Supporting students from Gaza to study in Europe

Introduction

Friendly Welcome was formed by a group of Quakers in 2021 Our first project was to sponsor a Syrian refugee family to make a new life in the UK.

Our current project is a response to the heartbreaking situation in Gaza.

Our aim is to support Palestinian men and women living in the ruins of Gaza to take up university places in Europe and so secure a better future.

We are all volunteers and in the long tradition of Quaker initiatives, we work with people of different faiths or no faith who share our belief that every life is unique and precious.

We have successfully worked with a wider group to enable a 17 year old Palestinian woman to take up a university place in Paris. We are now supporting a Palestinian man, Bashar, to take up a place on a Masters degree in Digital Innovation at University College Dublin.
